Pregnancy and Chiropractic

A Healthy Start for Mom and Baby

The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and other organizations have published a tremendous amount of research supporting the beneficial effects of chiropractic care in pregnancy and for children. For pregnant women, chiropractic care before, during, and after birth has been shown to be highly beneficial.

Dr. Bridget recommends that pregnant women seek chiropractic care during their pregnancies, for their own health and the health of their babies.

Chiropractic care helps ease discomfort during pregnancy and reduces the stress of labor.

Why is Chiropractic Care Important?

During pregnancy your body is going through many changes. It’s important to re-align the body with chiropractic adjustments so it is better able to respond to natural stressors. The better your nerves and nervous system are functioning, the better your baby’s nerves and nervous system will develop and function.

After pregnancy, the hormones that prepared your body for labor are still lingering in your body, keeping ligaments loose and leaving joints out of their proper place. Chiropractic adjustments help re-align your body as it adapts to changes of motherhood. Many women who are breastfeeding find great relief with continued chiropractic care.

For baby, chiropractic care can help reduce the effects of birth trauma. Your baby can be extremely vulnerable to turning or torqueing of the neck during the birthing process. Chiropractic care can gently alleviate many issues caused by this trauma.
